Farsi work divides along two lines that a supplier either notices or does not. Iranian documents use the Solar Hijri calendar and a distinctive set of identity records; Afghan documents are in Dari, which is close to Farsi but comes from different institutions with different terminology.

WHAT THE HOME OFFICE actually asks for
Where documents provided are not in English or Welsh, you must provide a full dated and signed translation in English that can be verified. This must be dated and include the full name and signature of the translator or an authorised official of the translation company and their contact details.

Anyone can say they translate Farsi. These are the three things that actually decide whether a Farsi file is accepted.
Solar Hijri is not the same calendar as the Arabic one
Iranian documents use the Solar Hijri calendar, which tracks the seasons and runs about six hundred and twenty years behind the Gregorian one – a different system entirely from the lunar Hijri dates on Arabic documents, and converted with a different arithmetic. Dates are reproduced as issued with the Gregorian equivalent alongside, marked as a translator’s note.
The shenasnameh is a life history, not a birth certificate
The Iranian identity booklet records a birth and then keeps recording: marriages, divorces, children, and eventually death, each added on its own page. Translating the first page and stopping misses the entries a relationship or status claim usually depends on. The whole booklet is translated, page by page, including the pages that are blank.
Dari is not simply Farsi with a different flag
Afghan documents are largely in Dari, which shares its script and much of its vocabulary with Farsi but comes from different institutions and uses different administrative terms – and Afghan files often contain Pashto as well. Documents are assigned on where they were issued, not on the word “Persian”.

Will the Home Office accept a Farsi translation from you?
Yes, and we guarantee acceptance. It is complete and word for word, including seals, stamps and handwritten entries, and issued dated on company letterhead with the translator named and signed and our contact details on it.
Do I need my whole shenasnameh translated?
Almost always, yes. The later pages carry the marriage, divorce and children entries that a relationship claim rests on. Send every page, including the blank ones, and we will tell you if anything can safely be left out.
My documents are Afghan rather than Iranian.
Say so when you send them. Afghan documents are largely in Dari and come from different institutions, and they go to a linguist who works with that paperwork. Pashto in the same file is no problem.
How are the dates handled?
Reproduced exactly as issued, with the Gregorian equivalent alongside and marked as a translator’s note. We never replace one with the other.
Do you need my original documents?
No. Clear scans of every page are enough for the entire job including certification, and given how difficult these are to replace we would rather you kept the originals.
How long does it take?
A standard document is normally back within 24 to 72 hours and expedited delivers as fast as 24 hours. A full shenasnameh is quoted as one job with one delivery date.
