A BANK STATEMENT is evidence, and it is read as evidence

A caseworker assessing a financial requirement is not reading for the gist. They are checking the account holder, the account number, the period covered, the closing balance and often every transaction line – which is why a summarised or partial translation gets an application refused rather than delayed.

We translate the whole statement, keep the table as a table, and leave every figure, date and currency exactly as printed. Nothing is converted, rounded or recalculated.

WHAT THE HOME OFFICE asks for

This is the requirement in the Home Office’s own words, and it is the standard every certified translation we issue is built to meet:

Where documents provided are not in English or Welsh, you must provide a full dated and signed translation in English that can be verified. This must be dated and include the full name and signature of the translator or an authorised official of the translation company and their contact details.

UK Home Office guidance, gov.uk

Read it closely and it is a short list: a full translation, not a summary; in English; dated; signed; with the translator or an authorised official of the translation company named; and with contact details so it can be verified. Every one of those is on the certification page we issue with your bank statement.

WHAT YOU GET with every certified translation

  • Accredited and sworn, fully bilingual philologist and linguist human translators
  • An additional native-speaking proofreader on every project for quality assurance
  • Professional DTP editing and formatting, so the translation mirrors your original
  • A signed affidavit and declaration of translation accuracy
  • The company wet stamp for authenticity
  • Official certification on company letterhead
  • Full compliance with the ISO 17100 quality standard
  • A physical copy with wet stamps and company letterhead where one is needed
  • Nothing of yours has to travel – a scan is enough, and hard copies come to you
  • Any iterations, corrections and editing free of charge, same day or next day

WHEN YOU NEED a certified bank statement translation

A visa financial requirement

Partner, family and student routes all require evidence of funds, and statements not in English must be translated to be assessed.

Proof of maintenance funds

Where a route requires funds held for a set period, the statement is the evidence and the dates have to be unambiguous.

A mortgage or loan application

Lenders assessing overseas income or savings need the statements in English.

Renting a property

Letting agents carrying out affordability checks ask for translated statements where the account is held abroad.

Proof of funds for a purchase

Conveyancers and anti-money-laundering checks require the source of funds to be evidenced.

Court and family proceedings

Financial disclosure filed with HM Courts & Tribunals Service must be in English.

WHO ACCEPTS it

Issued to the standard the Home Office publishes, and routinely accepted by:

  • The Home Office and UKVI
  • Banks, building societies and mortgage lenders
  • Letting agents and landlords
  • Solicitors and conveyancers
  • HM Courts & Tribunals Service
  • Universities and student finance bodies
  • Accountants and auditors
  • Foreign embassies and consulates in the UK

If the body you are dealing with is not on this list, ask us before you order – checking what they actually require is free, and it is the fastest way to avoid paying for a level of certification you do not need.

THINGS PEOPLE get caught out by

Every page, in sequence

Statements are assessed as a continuous period. Missing pages, or pages out of order, are one of the commonest reasons financial evidence is rejected – send the complete run.

Figures are never converted

Amounts and currencies are reproduced exactly as printed. Converting a balance into pounds inside a translation invents a figure the bank never issued, and caseworkers treat that as a discrepancy.

The bank letterhead counts

The bank name, branch, account holder, account number and any authentication stamp are part of what makes the statement evidence. They are translated and described, not skipped as “header”.

Volume is priced sensibly

Six months of transactions is a lot of lines but a lot of repetition. Repeated descriptions are not charged over and over – the quote reflects the real content.

HOW IT works

  1. Send a scan

A photograph from your phone is fine, as long as every corner is in frame and the text, the stamps and anything written on the back are readable. Your original never leaves you.

  2. Get a fixed price

We read the document, confirm the language and the certification the receiving body wants, and send back an itemised price and a delivery date. Free, and with no obligation.

  3. Translation and checking

An accredited, sworn linguist translates it; a second linguist who is a native speaker of the target language reads the whole thing against the source.

  4. Certification

The translation is issued with a signed declaration of accuracy on company letterhead, dated, with the translator named and our wet stamp applied.

  5. Delivery

By email the day it is finished, with a wet-stamped hard copy posted to your address if you need one. Corrections afterwards are free.

The full five-stage service process, and the three-stage quality assessment behind it, are set out on How It Works and Quality Assurance.

BANK STATEMENT questions, answered

How is a long statement priced?

On the actual content, with repeated transaction descriptions counted once rather than on every line. Send the full period and the quote comes back itemised and fixed before you commit.

Do you convert the amounts into pounds?

No, and no one should. Figures and currencies are reproduced exactly as the bank printed them. A converted balance is a number the bank never issued, and a caseworker will treat the mismatch as a discrepancy.

Will the table layout be kept?

Yes. Professional DTP formatting is included, so the translation mirrors the statement and can be read alongside it line for line.

Do you need original paper statements?

No. Clear scans, photographs or the PDF exactly as your bank issued it are all fine, including any verification page.

Is my financial information kept confidential?

Entirely, under UK GDPR. Statements are seen only by the linguists working on them and are held no longer than the job and your correction window require. We will sign your NDA if you have one.

How fast can it be done?

A short statement follows the standard 24 to 72 hours. A six-month run is quoted with its own delivery date, and expedited handling is available without removing the second linguist who checks it.

Send us the bank statement

A scan or a clear photograph is enough. You get back a fixed price, a delivery date, and a straight answer on whether a plain certified translation will do or whether you need a solicitor, a notary or an apostille on top – free, with no obligation, and handled confidentially under UK GDPR.

CERTIFIED TRANSLATION wherever you are in the UK

The service runs digitally end to end, so where you live makes no difference to the price or the timing. Send a scan, approve the quote, and the finished translation comes back by email – with the wet-stamped hard copy posted to your address when you need one.
