CERTIFIED FRENCH translation, accepted first time

French-language documents reach us from far more places than France. Belgian, Swiss, Canadian and West and Central African records are all in French and all come from different administrations, with different forms and different names for the same events.

Documents are assigned on where they were issued rather than on the language alone, and certified with a signed declaration of accuracy on company letterhead, dated, with our wet stamp.

WHAT THE HOME OFFICE actually asks for

Where documents provided are not in English or Welsh, you must provide a full dated and signed translation in English that can be verified. This must be dated and include the full name and signature of the translator or an authorised official of the translation company and their contact details.

gov.uk guidance on documents in support of an application

Every French translation we issue carries all four elements – a full translation, a date, the translator named and signed, and contact details that can be checked – on company letterhead with our wet stamp. That is what acceptance actually turns on, and it is why we can guarantee it.

WHY EKO 4 for French

Anyone can say they translate French. These are the three things that actually decide whether a French file is accepted.

The marginal notes are usually the point

A French acte de naissance records later events – a marriage, a divorce, a name change, sometimes a death – as notes in the margin rather than by issuing a new document. A summary extract may not show them; the full copy does. If your case turns on one of those events, obtaining the full copy first is worth more than translating the wrong version quickly.

Marks out of twenty, and the mention that goes with them

French grading runs to twenty, and a result that looks low to a UK reader can be a strong one, while the accompanying mention carries meaning of its own. Marks and mentions are reproduced exactly as awarded with the scale alongside. Deciding what a French qualification is worth here is UK ENIC’s job or the institution’s.

French does not mean France

A Belgian composition de ménage, a Swiss cantonal record, a Québécois certificate and a Senegalese extrait d’acte are all French-language documents from systems that name and structure things differently. Tell us where yours was issued and it goes to someone who works with that paperwork.

CERTIFIED, SWORN or apostilled – which do you need?

These are three different things and ordering the wrong one is the most common and most expensive mistake in the process. Which you need is decided entirely by who is receiving the document, and it is the first thing we check when you ask for a quote.

FRENCH translation – questions, answered

Will the Home Office accept a French translation from you?

Yes, and we guarantee acceptance. It is complete and word for word, including seals, stamps and marginal notes, and issued dated on company letterhead with the translator named and signed and our contact details on it.

Should I send an extract or the full copy of my birth record?

If your case depends on something that happened after the birth – a marriage, a divorce, a name change – the full copy is the one carrying it in the margin. Send what you have and we will tell you free of charge whether it will do.

Do you convert French marks to a UK grade?

No. They are reproduced exactly as awarded with the scale and the mention alongside. Comparability is UK ENIC’s judgement or the institution’s.

My documents are Belgian, Swiss, Canadian or African.

All fine, and worth saying when you send them. Those systems use different forms and terminology, so the document is assigned to a linguist who works with the right one.

Will you translate my driving licence for the DVLA?

Yes, including the category and restriction codes on the reverse.

Do you need my original documents?

No. Clear scans of both sides are enough for the whole job including certification.

Send your French document

A scan or a phone photograph is enough. You will have an itemised written quote, a delivery date and an honest answer on what certification the receiving body actually wants – free, with no obligation, and handled confidentially under UK GDPR.

FRENCH TRANSLATION wherever you are in the UK

The whole service runs digitally, so where you are makes no difference to the work, the timing or the price. Send a scan, approve the quote, and the finished translation comes back by email – with a wet-stamped hard copy posted to your address when you need one.
