translate for you?
We translate in your own file formats and hand them back ready to use, with the layout intact. That covers Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop files, HTML, XML, JSON, XLIFF and Markdown, subtitle and caption files, and the export formats used by the common website and e-commerce platforms.
If your file is a scan, a photograph or a handwritten document, we convert it first – see the free text conversion below.
FREE DTP formatting for all professional translations exceeding 16 000 words
No originals to post, anywhere in the UK
Send a scan from anywhere in the UK, keep your originals, and we deliver the finished translation to your address
BECAUSE DEADLINES MATTER.
Get a free quote for your professional translation
Send us the document and we will come back with an exact price and a delivery date. No charge for the quote, no obligation, and your file is handled confidentially.
HOW MUCH does professional translation cost?
Professional translation is priced per word of the source document, so the cost depends on length, language and subject rather than a fixed page rate. Certified documents such as birth or marriage certificates are priced per page instead, because they are a fixed format. Send us the file and you get an exact figure back – there is no charge for the quote and no obligation.
What changes the price: the language pair (European languages cost less than Asian and African ones), the subject and how specialised its terminology is, the turnaround you need, and whether the file needs converting before we can start.
Essential – AI-assisted, human-checked
Machine translation with a professional linguist correcting it afterwards. Built for internal business content where you need to understand what a document says, quickly and cheaply – supplier emails, internal reports, background reading.
Not available for certified, official or published material.
Professional – 100% human
Translated in full by a qualified native-speaking linguist working into their mother tongue, with our terminology and quality checks applied. This is the standard for business documents, contracts, reports, and anything a customer or regulator will read.
The right choice for most business work.
Expert – human translator plus specialist reviewer
Everything in Professional, then an independent second linguist with subject expertise reviews the translation line by line. For legal, medical, technical and marketing material where a single wrong term carries a real cost.
Includes the full 5-stage quality process below.
Certified and official documents are always translated by a human being. We never put a document destined for the Home Office, a court, a university or an employer through machine translation, whatever the deadline.
CERTIFIED, NOTARISED or apostilled – which do you need?
These four words get used interchangeably and they are not the same thing. Ordering the wrong one is the most common and most expensive mistake in this process, so here is the short version.
| What it is | What you get | When you need it |
|---|---|---|
| Professional translation | An accurate translation with no legal statement attached. | Business documents, websites, marketing, internal use. This page. |
| Certified translation | The translation plus a signed statement of accuracy from the translation company, with its name, date and contact details. | Home Office and UKVI applications, universities, employers, HM Passport Office. Certified document translation → |
| Notarised translation | A certified translation where a Notary Public witnesses the signature on the statement. | Usually foreign authorities, some courts and banks. Ask us and we will tell you whether you actually need it. |
| Apostilled / legalised | A government stamp from the FCDO confirming a UK document or signature is genuine. | Using a UK document abroad – marriage overseas, foreign visas, overseas employment. Notarised translation & apostille → |
The order matters, and getting it backwards means paying twice. If a UK document needs an apostille and a translation, the original is normally apostilled first and the translation is then made of the document and the apostille stamp. Translate first and the stamp is missing from the translated set, and the receiving authority sends it back. Tell us where the document is going and we will confirm the right sequence before you pay for anything.
HOW LONG does a professional translation take?
Most business documents come back within two to three working days. Short documents are usually next day, and our 24-hour express service is available on request for urgent work.
Capacity is the honest limit on any translation deadline. We process up to 11,000 words per day by assembling a team of native-speaking linguists on a shared terminology base, which is how large projects stay consistent instead of reading like four different people wrote them. Send the document over and we will give you a delivery time with the quote.

Quality Assurance
Translation service process
We are aware of how important a translation may be, that is why we take our work seriously
AN ACCOUNT for the translation that keeps coming back
Some translation is a one-off. A birth certificate for a visa application, a diploma for an employer – ordered once, and that is the end of it.
Then there is the other kind. An immigration team with a caseload. An admissions office in clearing. An HR department onboarding across four countries at once. For them the translation is never the slow part – getting it quoted, approved, chased and invoiced, over and over, is.
A corporate account takes that out. Terms are agreed once and then left alone, your work is handled as priority, your terminology is kept between jobs, and it all goes through one person who already knows your files.
WHAT AN ACCOUNT actually gives you
Priority in the queue
Work sent on an account is allocated to a linguist as it arrives, rather than waiting behind the general order flow for a quote to be raised and approved first. Inside the terms you have already agreed, nothing has to be signed off before the work starts.
One named account manager
One person who knows your file formats, your language pairs and which authority you are filing with. One email address and one direct number, and no case history to explain again from the beginning.
Terms agreed once, not per job
Rates for your language pairs and subjects, turnaround commitments and how work is sent and approved are settled when the account opens and then held. No renegotiation on every order, no minimum charge, and a written confirmation of price and delivery date whenever you want one.
Your terminology, kept
A glossary and a translation memory are held against your account, so case terminology, job titles, product names and the things you have decided not to translate come out the same way every time – and text that repeats across your documents is counted once rather than treated as new.
One statement, not twenty invoices
Work through the period and settle on a single statement rather than paying job by job, with every order itemised on it against your own reference. The payment terms are set in writing when the account is opened.
Volume, without dropping a check
Up to 11,000 words a day across a team working from one shared terminology base – and the same three-stage quality assessment on a two-hundred-page bundle as on a single certificate. Volume changes the size of the team, never the number of checks.
WHAT PRIORITY actually means here
Every agency in the country says priority. Here is exactly what it changes on an EKO 4 account, and the one thing it does not.
Allocated on arrival
A job sent on an account is assigned as it lands. It is not held while somebody raises a quote, waits for you to approve it and then goes looking for a translator – those three steps happened once, when the account was set up.
A standing team, not a fresh search
Your language pairs and your subject are covered by linguists who already work on your account and already have your glossary. The first hour of a job is not spent finding somebody suitable, and the same names keep coming back to your files.
Escalated by us, not by you
Deadline work is pushed up the queue by your account manager rather than by you having to make the case for it. And where a deadline is not achievable, you are told at the point you send the work – not the evening before it is due.
What priority does not do
It does not remove the second linguist, and it does not make us promise a turnaround a language pair cannot support. A rare pair takes what it takes. Priority means you find that out immediately and can plan around it – not that the arithmetic changes.
WHO ACCOUNTS are built for
These are the teams that send translation on a rhythm rather than on an occasion. If yours is not on the list but the pattern is the same, the account works identically.
Law firms and immigration advisers
Bundles of evidence against a filing date, certified to what the Home Office, UKVI and HMCTS accept, with the sworn or notarised route available when a court asks for it.
Universities and admissions offices
Transcripts, diplomas and awarding-body statements in volume and against a clearing deadline, translated to the standard UK ENIC and admissions teams expect.
Recruitment and HR teams
Right-to-work documents, qualifications, references, contracts and staff handbooks – the paperwork of hiring across borders, at the speed hiring actually moves.
Accountancy and financial services
Statements, audit files, corporate records and the identity and source-of-funds evidence that onboarding and KYC checks turn on.
Healthcare and clinical teams
Records, referrals, consent forms and reports, handled confidentially under UK GDPR and translated by linguists who work in medical text rather than whoever is free.
Property and conveyancing
Title documents, identity evidence, powers of attorney and the supporting paperwork behind a purchase with an overseas party in it.
Freight, logistics and export
Commercial invoices, certificates of origin, customs and compliance paperwork – the documents where a delay is measured in demurrage rather than in inconvenience.
Marketing and creative agencies
Campaign copy, websites and product content delivered for you to issue to your own client. See partnerships below for how that works.
HOW AN ACCOUNT is opened and run
Tell us the shape of the work
Which language pairs, which document types, roughly what volume, the deadlines you routinely work to, and who receives what you send – because that last one decides whether you need certification, a solicitor or notary, or an apostille on top. Half an hour is usually enough.
We put the terms in writing
Rates for your pairs and subjects, turnaround commitments, how work is sent and approved, what your invoicing looks like, and any NDA or data processing agreement your compliance team needs. You see all of it before you commit to any of it.
The account is set up
A named account manager, your glossary and translation memory started, and a standing team briefed on your files. There is no charge for opening an account and nothing to pay until you send work.
Send work the account way
By email to your account manager, or through the online order system, whichever suits the person sending it. Either route lands inside your agreed terms and comes back with a written confirmation of price and delivery date.
Reviewed as the work changes
A statement of what has been done, and a proper look at the terms when the pattern shifts – a new market, a document type you have never sent before, a season that is busier than the last one.
What happens to a document once it is with us does not change on an account – it is the same five-stage process every order goes through. See how a translation is produced →
PARTNERSHIPS for agencies and other providers
Not every partner is an end client. Agencies, law firms and other language providers work with us as a supplier rather than as a customer, and that arrangement has rules of its own – including one that most suppliers would rather not put in writing.
Delivered for you to issue
Contracts, technical documentation, reports, website and campaign copy – translated to the same standard, delivered unbranded in your working format and on your schedule, for you to hand to your own client under your own name.
Certified work is different, and we will say so
A certified translation has to name the translator or an authorised official of the translation company, with their contact details, because that is precisely what the receiving authority checks. It cannot be issued under somebody else’s name. What we can be is your named certified supplier – your client gets a certification that will be accepted, and you keep the relationship.
Capacity when yours runs out
A pair you do not cover, a volume you cannot absorb this week, a subject outside your linguists’ field. Overflow work runs on the same terms as everything else on the account, which means you can quote for it before you know whether you will need us.
THE PART your procurement team will ask about
Confidentiality and UK GDPR
Files move and are held through our own cloud platform and dedicated document servers rather than being emailed around a network of freelancers. They are seen only by the linguists assigned to your account, and kept no longer than the job and your correction period require.
NDAs and data processing agreements
We will sign yours. If your compliance team would rather work from a template of ours, ask and you will have it before the account is opened rather than after the first job has already been sent.
The standard, and the cover after delivery
Work to ISO 17100, a three-stage quality assessment on every job, and 25 days of quality cover after delivery during which anything wrong is put right free of charge. How quality is assured →
Open a corporate account
Tell us what you send, how often, and who receives it. You will get a written proposal back – rates for your own language pairs, turnaround commitments and the terms in full – with nothing to sign in order to read it.

TRANSLATION SERVICES near you
Most translation companies want your originals in the post before they will start. We do not: a clear scan is all we need, so nothing of yours leaves your desk and there is nothing to lose in transit before a deadline.
Upload the file, approve the quote, receive the translation by email – and where you need it on paper, it is posted to your address. We are still a UK company with people you can actually reach if you would rather ask a question first.
FREQUENTLY ASKED questions
How much does professional translation cost in the UK?
Professional translation is charged per word of the source text, so the price depends on the length of your document, the language pair and how specialised the subject is. European languages cost less than Asian and African ones, and urgent turnaround costs more than standard. Send us the file for an exact quote – it is free and there is no obligation.
Do you charge per word or per page?
Per word for professional and business translation, because a page can hold fifty words or a thousand. Certified certificates – birth, marriage, death, police checks, diplomas – are charged per page instead, since they are a fixed format with a predictable amount of text.
How long does a professional translation take?
Two to three working days for most business documents, next day for short ones, and 24-hour express is available for urgent work. We process up to 11,000 words per day when a project needs a team, and you get a firm delivery time with your quote.
What is the difference between certified, notarised, sworn and apostilled translation?
A certified translation carries a signed statement of accuracy from the translation company – that is what the Home Office and UK universities ask for. A notarised translation adds a Notary Public witnessing that signature. An apostille is a government stamp confirming a UK document is genuine, needed when the document is going abroad. "Sworn" translation is a continental European concept with no direct UK equivalent; in the UK a certified translation is normally what is meant.
Do I need a certified translation or a professional one?
If the document is going to a government body, a court, a university or an employer as proof of something, you need a certified translation. If it is a business document – a contract, a report, a website, marketing material – professional translation is what you want. If you are not sure, tell us who is going to receive it and we will tell you which one to order.
Are your translations done by humans or by AI?
Certified and official documents are translated by qualified human linguists, always, with no machine translation involved. For internal business content where you only need to know what a document says, we also offer an AI-assisted option that a professional linguist checks and corrects afterwards – it is cheaper and faster, and we will tell you plainly when it is not appropriate for your document.
Which languages do you translate?
76 languages, covering the European, Asian, African and Middle Eastern language groups, always translated by native speakers working into their mother tongue. If you need a language that is not on our list, ask – our translator network is larger than the languages we advertise.
Do you translate specialist or technical subjects?
Yes. We work across 32 terminology areas including legal, medical, financial, technical, engineering, marketing and academic material, and we assign translators by subject as well as by language. For specialist work an independent second linguist with expertise in the field reviews the translation before delivery.
What file formats can you work with?
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop files, HTML, XML, JSON, XLIFF, Markdown, subtitle files and the common website export formats. You get the translation back in the same format with the layout intact. Scans, photographs and handwritten documents are converted first, free of charge.
How do you keep terminology consistent across documents?
We build a terminology base for your account and reuse it on every job, so the same term is translated the same way in this month's contract as in last year's. On large projects that also lets several linguists work in parallel without the finished document reading like four different people wrote it.
Is my document kept confidential?
Yes. Documents are handled under UK GDPR by linguists bound by confidentiality agreements, and we do not use your content for anything other than your translation. If your project needs a specific non-disclosure agreement in place first, send it over and we will sign it.
What happens if I am not happy with the translation?
Tell us and we fix it. Our quality process runs five stages before anything reaches you, and translations are covered by a free 25-day guarantee – we correct any mistake, and if we cannot put it right you get your money back in full.
Corporate accounts and partnerships
How much work do we need to send to justify an account?
There is no threshold you have to clear before we will talk. The honest test is simpler than a volume: if you send translation often enough that quoting and approving each one separately has become a nuisance, an account will save you more time than it takes to open. It costs nothing either way.
What does an account cost to open?
Nothing. There is no setup fee, no account fee and no minimum spend. You pay for translation, at the rates agreed in writing when the account is set up, and for nothing else.
Are account rates lower than ordering job by job?
Account rates are agreed for your specific language pairs and subjects rather than taken off a list, and the volume and regularity of your work are part of that conversation. What we will not do is publish a figure on this page that would be wrong for most of the firms reading it. Ask, and you will have a written schedule for your own pairs.
How fast is priority, in practice?
A standard document is normally back within 24 to 72 hours and expedited work delivers as fast as 24 hours, with longer projects running at up to 11,000 words a day across a team. What the account changes is the front of that process: your job is allocated as it arrives rather than after a quote has been raised and approved, and your deadline is escalated by your account manager rather than by you having to chase it.
Can more than one person in our team send work?
Yes. Tell us who is authorised to send work and who is authorised to approve it – they do not have to be the same people – and the account is set up that way. If approval has to sit with one person or one cost code, we will hold to that.
Do you sign NDAs and data processing agreements?
Yes, and we would rather do it before the first job than after it. Send yours, or ask for ours. Everything is handled under UK GDPR whether an agreement is in place or not.
Will the same linguists work on our files every time?
That is the point of a standing team. Your language pairs and subject are covered by linguists who already hold your glossary and already know your documents, and every linguist carries an internal quality rating built from completed work and proofreader feedback, which is what decides who is offered your project.
What happens when we get a sudden spike?
It is what the shared terminology base is for: a team can be put on one project without the versions drifting apart, up to around 11,000 words a day. Tell your account manager a busy period is coming and it is planned for rather than absorbed on the day.
Do you work with other translation companies?
Yes – see partnerships above. Non-certified work can be delivered unbranded for you to issue under your own name. Certified work cannot, because the certification has to name the translator or an authorised official of the translation company and their contact details; there we act as your named certified supplier instead.
How does invoicing work?
On one statement rather than job by job, with every order itemised against your own reference so it can be reconciled against your matter, case or cost code. The payment terms are agreed and put in writing when the account is opened.
What if we need something you have never done for us before?
It goes through exactly the same free analysis as any other job: we read it, confirm what the receiving body will want, and come back with a fixed price and a date. Being on an account does not mean being quoted blind – it means not having to renegotiate the terms around the quote.
Can we still order online in the normal way?
Yes, and ordering runs 24/7. Anything sent under your account reference is handled on your terms whichever route it comes in by, so an urgent job at 11pm does not have to wait for office hours to become an account job.
