EKO 4 Translations UK

About EKO 4 Translations UK

An award-winning language service provider, brand established in 1991. Certified human translation in 76 languages, accepted by the Home Office, the courts and every UK authority.

WHO we are

EKO 4 Translations UK is an award-winning language service provider. The brand was established in Europe in 1991 and has run UK operations since 2015, and in that time we have delivered work for more than 50,000 customers in the UK and overseas.

We translate 76 languages, and certified translation of official documents is the specialisation – for the Home Office and UKVI, HM Courts & Tribunals, universities, register offices and every other UK authority, as well as for institutions in 197 countries abroad.

Alongside that sits something most translation companies do not have in-house: a development team. That is why we can localise a website or an app end to end rather than hand you a file and wish you luck – and it is where the “4” in our name comes from.

WHAT EVERY certified translation includes

Every order – personal or business, one certificate or ten thousand words – comes with all of this as standard rather than as a list of extras.

  • Accredited and sworn, fully bilingual philologist and linguist human translators
  • An additional native-speaking proofreader on every project for quality assurance
  • Professional DTP editing and formatting, so the translation mirrors your original
  • A signed affidavit and declaration of translation accuracy
  • The company wet stamp for authenticity
  • Official certification on company letterhead
  • Full compliance with the ISO 17100 quality standard
  • A physical copy with wet stamps and company letterhead where one is needed
  • Nothing of yours has to travel – a scan is enough, and hard copies come to you
  • Any iterations, corrections and editing free of charge, same day or next day

ONE TEAM behind every order

The same people and the same standards have run EKO 4 for more than three decades. Whatever you order, this is who handles it:

1,000+ accredited translators

Sworn, fully bilingual philologists and linguists covering 76 languages – every one vetted and qualified before they are given a document, and rated on their completed work afterwards.

Project managers and native proofreaders

A named project manager runs your order from quote to delivery, and a second linguist who is a native speaker of the target language reads every line before it reaches you.

Translators and developers in one company

Certified translation and web development under the same roof, which is what makes end-to-end website, app and software localisation possible rather than something we subcontract.

THREE DECADES of doing one thing properly

Where it started

EKO 4 was established in Europe in 1991 as a family business preparing official documents – passports, certificates, civil-status records. Those are still the documents we certify most often today. By 2015 the business had grown across four countries, and EKO 4 Translations UK was established with operations in Manchester, where the local pool of IT professionals let us build the technology side of the company properly.

What we are building

We run our own translation-memory and project-management cloud systems rather than renting someone else’s, including a multi-translation content management system that lets a translator and a proofreader work on the same project at the same time. That is what shortens turnaround without taking the second pair of eyes out of the process.

What we promise

Bespoke work, delivered on time, at a price agreed before you commit – and if anything needs changing afterwards, it is corrected free of charge the same day or the next. That guarantee has not changed in three decades and it is not going to.

WHY WE ARE called EKO 4

Why EKO, and not ECO

A translator’s detail, from the very first day. In countries that use the Cyrillic alphabet the letter C reads as an S, so “ECO” would be read aloud as “ESO”. We spelled it EKO so the name reads the same in every alphabet. Precision in a single letter – the same standard we apply to a document.

And the 4

Four interrelated professional services under one roof: certified and professional translation, document legalisation, multilingual marketing, and multilingual business and web solutions. One supplier for every language need, and a discount when you combine them.

The EKO also means economic

Efficient and economical for the customer, and as ecological as we can manage as a company – recycled and eco-friendly materials, and a team taught to save energy and paper. It is not a marketing line bolted on later; it is where the name came from.

AN AWARD-WINNING translation company

EKO 4 has been awarded and shortlisted year after year since 2016. Every badge below is shown with the result the judges actually gave it – winner, highly commended, finalist or nominee – rather than gathered under one vague claim.

Winner

Corporate LiveWire Global Awards 2021/22 – Translation Service Provider of the Year

Corporate LiveWire’s Global Awards recognise one standout company per category, judged on service quality, innovation and client care across the awards year.

Winner

Corporate LiveWire Innovation & Excellence Awards 2022

A second Corporate LiveWire win, this one for innovation – the technology-first way we deliver certified translation, with online ordering and our own cloud systems working alongside sworn human translators.

Winner

FSB Greater Manchester Business Awards 2017

The Federation of Small Businesses is the UK’s leading small-business organisation, and its regional awards judge growth, customer service and community impact.

Highly Commended

FSB Greater Manchester Business Awards 2017

A second category in the same 2017 awards, where the judges give Highly Commended to a business that stands out beyond the shortlist.

Finalist

FSB Greater Manchester Business Awards 2017

A third 2017 FSB category – four FSB distinctions in two years, after the brand was first shortlisted in 2016.

Finalist

Greater Manchester Business Awards 2017

The regional awards celebrate standout companies across every industry in one of the UK’s largest business communities.

Finalist

Salford Business Awards 2017

Salford’s annual awards celebrate the city’s best companies, during our years operating in Greater Manchester.

Finalist

North West Business Awards 2018 – International Business of the Year

Recognition for a family firm that had grown from a single European office into operations serving clients across borders.

Finalist

North West Business Awards 2018 – Customer Service Award

The service the judges assessed is the one we still guarantee: free advice, free corrections, and delivery on time.

Nominee

Excellence in Supply Awards 2020

These awards recognise dependable B2B suppliers in the North of England – a nomination that reflected the volume work we deliver for business clients, on spec and on schedule.

WHAT MAKES EKO 4 different

Plenty of companies translate documents. These are the reasons customers pick us, and stay with us.

100% acceptance, guaranteed

Every certified translation carries a signed accuracy declaration, official company letterhead and our wet stamp, and is accepted by the Home Office, UKVI, courts and authorities in 197 countries.

Human translators, double-checked

Accredited, sworn philologists translate; an additional native-speaking proofreader reviews every line. The whole process complies with ISO 17100. Never machine-only output.

Nothing of yours has to travel

A scan is enough. Your originals never go in the post, and when a wet-stamped hard copy is needed it is delivered to your address rather than left waiting for you to collect.

Free corrections, same or next day

A name spelling, a date format, something an authority has asked for – any iteration of your translation is corrected free of charge.

Translation, notarisation and apostille in one order

One supplier instead of three: a certified translation, a solicitor or notary certification on top of it, and an FCDO apostille – ordered together and delivered together.

76 languages, one standard

From Polish, Romanian and Ukrainian to Arabic, Urdu and Mandarin. The language changes who does the work, not what you get.

Translation and web development together

Very few language companies employ developers. Ours do the importing, internationalising and testing that turns a translated website into a working one.

Award-winning since 2016

Ten recognitions in six years, from the FSB and regional business awards to two Corporate LiveWire wins – each one listed above with the result the judges gave.

ABOUT EKO 4 – questions and answers

How long has EKO 4 been in business?

The brand was established in Europe in 1991 and EKO 4 Translations UK has run UK operations since 2015. That is more than three decades of certified human translation, and the business has been in the same family throughout.

Who will actually translate my document?

An accredited, sworn, fully bilingual philologist or linguist – never machine-only output. A second linguist who is a native speaker of the target language then proofreads it, and the whole process complies with the ISO 17100 quality standard.

Why are there no individual profiles on this page?

Because a photograph and a job title tell you nothing about whether your document will be accepted. What matters is the standard every order goes through, and that is set out above in full: who translates, who checks, what certification is attached and what happens if something needs changing.

Will my translation be accepted?

Yes – we guarantee it. Every certified translation carries a signed accuracy declaration, official company letterhead and our wet stamp, and is accepted by the Home Office, UKVI, HM Courts & Tribunals, universities, register offices and authorities in 197 countries.

Do I have to send you my original documents?

No, and we would rather you did not. A clear scan or photograph is enough for the whole job. When a wet-stamped hard copy is needed it is posted to your address – nothing of yours has to travel.

Where are you based?

The service runs digitally across the whole of the UK, so where you are makes no difference to the work or the price. Our UK operations began in Manchester in 2015; the company details are in the footer of every page.

What does the name EKO 4 mean?

EKO for economic and ecological, spelled with a K so the name reads the same in Cyrillic alphabets as it does in Latin ones. The 4 is for the four interrelated services we bring under one roof. There is a fuller explanation further up this page.

Which awards has EKO 4 won?

Ten recognitions since 2016, each listed above with the result the judges gave: two Corporate LiveWire wins in 2022, a win, a Highly Commended and a finalist place at the FSB Greater Manchester Business Awards in 2017, finalist places at the Greater Manchester, Salford and North West business awards, and an Excellence in Supply nomination in 2020.

How many languages do you translate?

Seventy-six, grouped into European and Asian language families and listed in full on the languages page. Every one of them is available with the same certification options and the same guarantees.

How do I get a price?

Send the document and you will have an itemised written quote and a delivery date, free and with no obligation. Free professional advice on what your document actually needs is part of that – including telling you when you need less than you asked for.

Are you hiring translators?

Regularly, and in most of our language pairs. There is an application form on the careers page; accreditation and a specialist field count for more with us than years alone.

Ask us anything first

Free professional advice is part of the service, not a sales call. Tell us what the document is and who is asking for it, and you will get a straight answer on what you actually need, an itemised written quote and a delivery date – with no obligation, handled confidentially under UK GDPR.

EKO 4 wherever you are in the UK

Ordering, delivery and advice all run digitally, so the service is the same in Belfast as it is in London. Send a scan, approve the quote, and the finished translation comes back by email – with the wet-stamped hard copy posted to your address when you need one.
