Translation for
Manufacturers

Manuals, labelling, safety documentation and software strings – in the formats they live in, to the launch date, against one glossary.

Working files back, not a Word document to rebuild
One glossary across manual, label, software and training
Revisions priced on what changed, not what is on the page
Up to 11,000 words a day against a launch date

BUILT ROUND how manufacturers actually buy translation

Documentation ships with the product, which makes it a dependency of the launch rather than an afterthought – and makes a late translation a late shipment.

The technical material is covered on the technical translation page. This one is about running it as a manufacturer: files, versions, markets and dates.

WHAT MANUFACTURERS send us

  • Operating and maintenance manuals
  • Installation and commissioning guides
  • Product labelling and packaging copy
  • Safety documentation and warnings
  • Technical specifications and data sheets
  • Software strings and interface text
  • Training and competency material
  • Tender and bid documentation
  • Quality and inspection records
  • Supplier and distributor agreements

Something not on the list? Send it. The analysis is free and we will tell you honestly whether it is work we should be doing – which is more useful than a page claiming we cover everything.

THREE THINGS that matter more to you than to anyone else

A revision costs what changed

Once your translation memory exists, the next version of a manual is priced on the text that is actually new rather than on the page count. For a product family that revises annually across several markets, that is the difference between documentation being a fixed cost and being a recurring surprise.

One glossary across every surface the customer sees

The manual, the label, the interface and the training deck have to name the same control the same way, or the operator looking for it finds nothing. Terminology is agreed before the first sentence and held against your account, so the next document matches the last and the software matches the manual.

The files come back as files

Text lives inside XLIFF and DITA, InDesign and FrameMaker, CAD callouts and images. Handing you a Word document leaves you the rebuild. Work comes back in the format it went out in, with callouts and captions in place, ready for the next revision.

QUESTIONS from manufacturers

What formats can you take?

XLIFF, DITA, .po, JSON, XML and CSV for structured content; InDesign, FrameMaker, Word, Excel and PowerPoint for documents; and text inside drawings and images rebuilt in place. Send a sample if you have something unusual.

Can you work to a launch date?

Yes, and the earlier you tell us the better the answer. Up to 11,000 words a day across a team working from one terminology base, with the same three-stage quality assessment throughout.

How do you keep terminology consistent across markets?

One glossary and one translation memory per account, agreed up front and reused on every job, with a standing team rather than whoever is free.

Do you translate the software as well as the manual?

Yes, from the same terminology base, which is the only way the button in the product and the button in the manual end up with the same name. Full product and web work is on the website, app and software localisation page.

What if there is a mistake in our source document?

We tell you and leave the source alone. A translator quietly correcting a specification is a worse problem than the original error, because nobody downstream knows it happened.

Send us something to quote

One document or a whole file. You will have an itemised written quote, a delivery date and a straight answer on what the receiving body actually needs – free, with no obligation, and handled confidentially under UK GDPR. We will sign your NDA first if you would rather.

Or talk to a person: 0333 772 1444 · info@translationsuk.com

WHEREVER your offices are

The whole service runs digitally, so where you are makes no difference to the work, the timing or the price. Send files, approve the quote, and the finished work comes back by email – with a wet-stamped hard copy posted to your address when one is needed.
