WHAT THE HOME OFFICE actually asks for
Where documents provided are not in English or Welsh, you must provide a full dated and signed translation in English that can be verified. This must be dated and include the full name and signature of the translator or an authorised official of the translation company and their contact details.

WHY EKO 4 for Ukrainian
Anyone can say they translate Ukrainian. These are the three things that actually decide whether a Ukrainian file is accepted.
Your name is spelled the way your passport spells it
Ukrainian is written in Cyrillic and there is more than one defensible way to put a name into Latin letters – Serhii or Sergey, Yevhen or Evgen, Kyiv or Kiev. Only one of them is on your passport, and that is the one a caseworker matches against. We ask for the passport spelling before we start and use it consistently across every document in the file, whatever the source document happens to do.
Older records are in Russian, and that is normal
Certificates issued before independence, and a good many issued after it, are in Russian or on Soviet-era forms. A family file often contains both languages and two different form layouts. Our linguists read both, so one application is translated by one team and comes back consistent rather than split between two suppliers.
The patronymic is part of the legal name
Ukrainian names carry a patronymic – the middle element formed from the father’s name – and it appears on the certificate whether or not it appears on the UK form you are filling in. It is carried across in full and in the right position, because dropping it makes the translated name look different from the document it is supposed to be translating.

Will the Home Office accept a Ukrainian translation from you?
Yes, and we guarantee acceptance. The guidance asks for a full, dated, signed English translation that can be verified, carrying the full name and signature of the translator or an authorised official of the translation company and their contact details. Every certificate we issue has all of that on it.
My documents spell my name differently from my passport. What happens?
Tell us the passport spelling and we use it throughout, and we note the source spelling so nothing is hidden from the caseworker. What we will not do is silently pick one – an unexplained difference between two documents is exactly what causes a request for further evidence.
Some of my certificates are in Russian rather than Ukrainian.
That is expected, particularly for anything issued before independence. Both are handled by the same team at the same price basis, and the finished file reads as one set rather than two.
Can you translate medical records and vaccination histories?
Yes, by linguists who work in medical text rather than whoever is free. Vaccination records in particular are asked for by GP surgeries and schools, and the product names and schedules have to come across precisely, not approximately.
Do you need my original documents?
No. A clear scan or photograph is enough for the whole job including certification, and given how hard some of these are to replace we would much rather you kept hold of them. Hard copies come to your address when you need one.
How fast can you deliver?
A standard certificate is normally back within 24 to 72 hours, and expedited delivers as fast as 24 hours. Larger files – a whole family’s records, a full medical history – run at up to 11,000 words a day across a team working from one shared glossary.
