German-language documents come from three countries with three administrations, and Switzerland adds a further complication by issuing in German, French or Italian depending on the canton. The language is shared; the forms, the offices and a good deal of the terminology are not.
Documents are assigned on where they were issued, and certified with a signed declaration of accuracy on company letterhead, dated, with our wet stamp. Send a scan and you will have a fixed price and a delivery date before anything starts.
WHAT THE HOME OFFICE actually asks for
Where documents provided are not in English or Welsh, you must provide a full dated and signed translation in English that can be verified. This must be dated and include the full name and signature of the translator or an authorised official of the translation company and their contact details.

WHY EKO 4 for German
Anyone can say they translate German. These are the three things that actually decide whether a German file is accepted.
One is best and six is worst, which is the opposite of the instinct
German grades run from 1 to 6 with 1 the highest, and university marks work to a similar logic. A UK reader glancing at a 1 assumes the worst possible result and at a 5 assumes a good one. Grades are reproduced exactly as awarded with the scale reproduced alongside, and never converted – comparability is UK ENIC’s judgement or the institution’s.
The certificate and the register printout are different documents
A Geburtsurkunde states the fact; a certified printout from the birth register shows the entry as it now stands, including anything added since. Where a case turns on a later event the printout is the document that carries it, and the certificate on its own will not. Send what you have and we will tell you free of charge whether it answers the question.
German, Austrian and Swiss paperwork is not interchangeable
The three administrations use different terms for the same institutions and different formats for the same records, and Swiss documents may arrive in German, French or Italian depending on the canton. Documents are assigned on where they were issued rather than on the language on the page.

These are three different things and ordering the wrong one is the most common and most expensive mistake in the process. Which you need is decided entirely by who is receiving the document, and it is the first thing we check when you ask for a quote.

Will the Home Office accept a German translation from you?
Yes, and we guarantee acceptance. It is complete and word for word, including seals, stamps and register references, and issued dated on company letterhead with the translator named and signed and our contact details on it.
Do you convert German grades to UK ones?
No. They are reproduced exactly as awarded with the scale alongside, which matters more than usual here because the German scale runs the opposite way from the intuition of a UK reader.
Should I send my certificate or a register printout?
If your case depends on something recorded after the original entry, the printout is the one showing it. Send what you have and we will tell you free of charge whether it will do.
My documents are Austrian or Swiss.
Worth saying when you send them, because the forms and terminology differ from German ones and Swiss documents may not be in German at all.
Can you handle technical and business documents as well?
