WHAT THE HOME OFFICE actually asks for
Where documents provided are not in English or Welsh, you must provide a full dated and signed translation in English that can be verified. This must be dated and include the full name and signature of the translator or an authorised official of the translation company and their contact details.

WHY EKO 4 for Latvian
Anyone can say they translate Latvian. These are the three things that actually decide whether a Latvian file is accepted.
A husband and wife hold different-looking surnames, and both are right
Latvian surnames are gendered: the male form typically ends –s or –š, the female form –a or –e. Bērziņš and Bērziņa are one family, not two, and a marriage certificate showing both is not a discrepancy. Each name is reproduced as issued and the relationship is explained in a note, so nobody has to guess.
Foreign names are re-spelled the Latvian way, by law
Latvian records render foreign names according to Latvian pronunciation and add Latvian endings, so a passport surname can look nothing like the one on a Latvian certificate. Latvian passports carry the original spelling on a separate page for exactly this reason. Both forms appear in the translation – the source reproduced exactly, the passport spelling used consistently across the file – because silently choosing one is how a name stops matching.
The personal code no longer means what people assume
A personas kods issued before 2017 begins with the date of birth. Codes issued from July 2017 begin 32 and encode nothing at all. A caseworker checking the old pattern against a new code will find it does not match the date of birth, because it was never meant to. We copy the code digit for digit and never reformat it into a shape that looks more familiar.

Will the Home Office accept a Latvian translation from you?
Yes, and we guarantee acceptance. It is complete and word for word, including seals and stamps, and issued dated on company letterhead with the translator named and signed and our contact details on it.
My wife’s surname is spelled differently from mine. Is that a problem?
No, and it is expected. Latvian surnames take a male and a female form, so the two of you appear under different endings on your own documents. The translation reproduces each as issued and explains the relationship, so it reads as grammar rather than as a mismatch.
My Latvian certificate spells my name differently from my passport.
Also normal. Latvian records re-spell foreign names to Latvian pronunciation. We reproduce the document exactly and show the passport spelling alongside it, so the two can be matched without anyone having to take it on trust.
Can you translate my diploma for a UK university or employer?
Yes, with the supplement alongside it, because that is where the subjects, hours and marks are. Grades are reproduced exactly as awarded and never mapped to a UK classification – comparability is UK ENIC’s judgement.
Do you need my original documents?
No. A clear scan or photograph of both sides is enough for the entire job including certification. Your originals stay with you and a wet-stamped hard copy is posted to your address when you need one.
How long does it take?
A standard certificate is normally back within 24 to 72 hours and expedited delivers as fast as 24 hours.
