MOST REQUESTED languages in the UK

Any of the 76 is available on the same terms. These are simply the ones we are asked for most often, and what people usually need them for.

Polish

Steady in both directions – Polish civil records to be read here, and UK birth, marriage and death certificates for use in Poland.

Polish translation services →

Spanish

Both ways, and heavier out of English than into it – residency, marriage, property and citizenship files for Spain and Latin America.

Spanish translation services →

Romanian

Mostly into English – civil-status documents, driving licences and police certificates – with regular work heading the other way.

Romanian translation services →

Arabic

Strong in both directions: marriage, employment and immigration documents for official use across the Gulf and the Middle East, often with legalisation.

Arabic translation services →

French

Both ways, and often UK documents heading to France – residency and civil registration, property, and academic or professional qualifications.

French translation services →

Italian

Chiefly English into Italian – citizenship, marriage and residency applications, consular and civil-registry paperwork, usually apostilled.

Italian translation services →

Portuguese

European and Brazilian Portuguese both – residency, marriage, citizenship and civil-registry procedures.

Portuguese translation services →

Ukrainian

Passports, birth certificates and qualifications, most often for visa and residency applications.

Ukrainian translation services →

Urdu

NADRA records, marriage contracts and academic certificates for visa and settlement cases.

Urdu translation services →

Punjabi

Family and educational documents, usually alongside Urdu paperwork in the same application.

Punjabi translation services →

Bengali

Civil records and educational certificates, usually for Home Office applications.

Bengali translation services →

Chinese (Mandarin)

Russian translation services →

Turkish translation services →

Working the other way round – a document in one foreign language that has to be read in another – is fine too. Tell us both languages and we will confirm the pairing before you order.

LANGUAGE questions, answered

How many languages do you translate?

Seventy-six, listed in full above and grouped into European and Asian. Every one of them is available with the same certification options, the same proofreading by a second native speaker, and the same guarantees – the language does not change what you get, only the linguist who does it.

Which languages are you asked for most in the UK?

Polish, Spanish, Romanian, Arabic, French and Italian, in that order, then Portuguese, Ukrainian, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Mandarin, Russian and Turkish. Two things drive that list and they pull in opposite directions: documents arriving from abroad that have to be read here, and UK documents – birth, marriage and death certificates, degrees, police certificates – that have to be accepted somewhere else. Spanish, French and Italian rank as high as they do largely on the second, which is why this is not the same list as the languages most spoken in the UK.

Do you translate into English, out of English, or both?

Both, and also between two languages that are neither – a Romanian document that has to be read in Spanish, for instance. Tell us the source and target language and we will confirm the pairing and the price before you order.

Are your translators native speakers?

The translator is an accredited, fully bilingual linguist, and the work is then proofread by a second linguist who is a native speaker of the target language. That second pair of eyes is included as standard rather than sold as an extra.

Can any of these languages be certified for the Home Office?

Yes. Certification is about the statement of accuracy, the company letterhead and the wet stamp, not about the language, so a certified translation from Sylheti carries exactly the same weight as one from French.

My language is not on the list. Can you still help?

Very often, yes – the list covers the languages we are asked for regularly rather than everything we can source. Ask, and if we cannot do it properly we will say so rather than take the job.

Which variant or dialect will you use?

Whichever the receiving country uses, and we will ask if it is not obvious. Portuguese is a common one – European and Brazilian differ enough to matter – as are simplified versus traditional Chinese, and Latin American versus European Spanish.

Does the price change depending on the language?

Certified translation of a standard document is priced per document, so for most personal certificates the language makes no difference. Per-word work varies a little with the language pair, because the pool of qualified linguists does. Either way the quote is free and itemised before you commit.

Can you handle a document written in more than one language?

Yes, and it is more common than people expect – bilingual certificates, stamps in a third language, endorsements added by another country. Send the whole document and we will translate everything on it, including the stamps.

How long does a translation take?

A standard certificate is normally back within 24 to 72 hours whatever the language, with expedited 24-hour service available. Longer or specialised documents run at up to 11,000 words a day across a team working from one shared terminology base.

Do you translate rare or regional languages?

Some, and they are on the list – Sylheti, Kashubian, Konkani, Ossetian, Sami and Bhojpuri among them. Rarer pairings take longer to staff, so tell us the deadline early and we will be straight with you about whether it is achievable.

Tell us the two languages

Send the document, name the language it is in and the language you need it in, and you will get back a fixed price and a delivery date. The quote is free, there is no obligation, and your file is handled confidentially under UK GDPR.

TRANSLATION wherever you are in the UK

The service runs digitally from end to end, so the language you need has nothing to do with where you live. Send a scan, approve the quote, and the finished translation comes back by email – with the wet-stamped hard copy posted to your address when you need one.

Your original documents stay with you throughout. There is nothing to bring in and nothing to risk in the post.
